About BESS ATR Data

What is ATR?

ATR (Aviz Tehnic de Racordare) is the Technical Connection Approval issued by grid operators (Transelectrica for 110kV+ or DSOs for lower voltages) that confirms a project can connect to the electricity grid at a specific point with approved capacity.

Data Sources

Data compiled from: Transelectrica CRD Maps, Economica.net, DSO public lists, and regulatory filings. Last updated: December 2025.

Market Context

Romania has one of Europe's largest BESS pipelines relative to system size. With ~8.6 GW of ATR capacity versus ~6 GW peak load, battery storage will play a critical role in grid flexibility and renewable integration.
